About The Forthenby Ladies

The trouble with actions is that they have consequences.

Edward ‘Teddy’ Valance, ninth Earl of Forthenby, would be the first to admit his plans had backfired. Engaged by an error of judgement to a woman with every reason to hate him, he is staring down the barrel of a future where no-one he loves is speaking to him, where any hope of satisfying revenge, or domestic harmony have vanished.

But Teddy Valance is not one to mope in the doldrums. Reconciled with his best friend, valet, and long-term situationship – Peaches Waghorn – the pair of them ready themselves for a new string of shenanigans, facing down disapproving stewards, formidable family members, and the prospect of a very unhappy marriage.

Meanwhile, Serafina Tooting is living the Gothic novel she has often fantasised. Her hopes for a love-match dashed by Lord Forthenby’s actions, she has been bullied and coerced in to accepting his suit, while her lover – the disgraced Richard Thornton – is at large on the highways of England with a stolen pistol.

Dark pasts, social class, and holy matrimony all stand in the way of any hope of happiness for these star-crossed lovers, as Teddy has to navigate the kind of problems that can’t be solved with a pistol.

Which doesn’t mean isn’t going to try.

The Forthenby Ladies is the second part in an erotic comedy of manners following the misadventures of one Edward ‘Teddy’ Valance and the unfortunates caught up in his wake. A queer, kinky, romp through the Regency, full of sex, violence, and anachronism, it is intended for an adult audience.
